after effects
Learning ae has been super helpful in keeping my sanity this quarter. Weird to say, but learning something brand new allowed me to be challenged and my project took on a new dimension that I wasn’t able to express before.
However, like learning any adobe product, I know I’m missing, layers, and layers of tools and effects. Just found out about time remapping. Blew my mind.

The “play” section of my capstone is turning out to be my favorite. (Only because I’ve got Tetris, Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out, and Skate or Die as some of the game examples.)

Of each dollar the federal government spends, how much goes to defense? How much goes to Social Security? How much goes to interest on the debt? And how has this sort of thing changed over time?
This graphic answers these questions. It shows the major components of federal spending 50 years ago, 25 years ago, and last year.

24.8% of our money is being spent on healthcare. And we’re getting sicker and sicker. I am reminded of a saying, “Throwing money at a problem isn’t a solution.” In terms of the project I did surrounding capacity building in Haiti, maybe it’s time to stop throwing money at our terrible health care system and start building people’s capacity to take charge of their own health.

I’ve taken a step back and I’m reevaluating my project. I’ve got 16 days to finish this thing so I have enough time to prepare a super clean presentation of all my work.
Every project needs a moment of clarity, and I’ve been in a fog for a minute. I am figuring out what my story is, how to tell that story, and what I need to build to help me tell it.
Taking a step back to reevaluate what I’m doing for the next 16 days. Looking at what needs to get done, how to tell the story I need to tell, and what’s the best use of my time.
There’s always got to be that moment of clarity in every project and I’m forcing mine to happen now because I’ve got no time to lose.
"With the patient’s constellation of signs and symptoms, it was obvious to me that this was a classic presentation of ‘I have no idea what this is.’"
